We are excited to be able to offer ENTIRELY FREE workshops to NHS Staff in Redbridge, thanks to special funding from NHS North East London.
Our Deaf Awareness training is a game-changer, providing you with crucial insights into Deaf culture and the unique challenges your Deaf patients face when accessing healthcare.
Why is this so important? Because being Deaf Aware isn’t just about avoiding mistakes – it’s about enhancing communication, building trust and ensuring equal access to quality healthcare for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. By mastering these skills, you’ll not only prevent misunderstandings but also help create a more inclusive, empathetic and efficient healthcare environment for everyone.
This training will empower you with the tools to improve patient care while reducing stress, frustration, and those all-too-common communication breakdowns — making your job easier and the experience smoother for everyone!
Our Deaf Awareness workshop consists of 2 one-hour sessions.

First session: Deaf Awareness - introducing the issues and barriers faced by Deaf people and highlighting strategies to improve your communication skills with colleagues, patients and service users who are affected with a hearing loss.

Second session: British Sign Language - an introduction to BSL, including helpful signs and phrases to use when communicating with Deaf patients and service users.
These workshops can be either:
1) Booked by individual members of staff via our monthly online workshops.
The 2 sessions can be booked to run consecutively or split over different days.
Please note: participants must have attended the first part of this workshop to be able to book on to the second session. See available dates on the form below.
or
2) Private Deaf Awareness workshop created for a group of your staff.
Either face-to-face or online. Duration: 2 hours including a short break.
A minimum of 15 staff up to maximum 20 staff per workshop.
